TRENTON, NJ — A 39-year-old man was arrested early Thursday morning after allegedly stealing a food delivery driver’s vehicle and leading police on a brief pursuit.
Trenton Police were dispatched to 20 Furman Street at 12:13 a.m. on a report of a theft in progress.
The victim told police that while delivering food in the area of Hills Place, an unidentified man stole his vehicle.
Approximately twenty minutes later, Officers Paul Santos and Jovanni Romero observed the vehicle in the area of Oakland Street and Hoffman Avenue and attempted to initiate a motor vehicle stop.
The driver refused to stop and fled toward the area of Roger Gardens, where the vehicle struck an unoccupied parked car.
Rashaun Walker, of Trenton, fled on foot after the crash and was taken into custody by officers after a brief foot pursuit.
Walker was transported to Trenton Police Headquarters, where he was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and obstructing the administration of law.
No injuries were reported, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
The victim was issued a summons for leaving a vehicle running unattended.
