AUBURN, NY — A man faces multiple charges after his 2-month-old daughter suffered a skull fracture and brain bleed when struck by a video game console hard drive during a domestic incident.

Jason L. Brown, 33, of Auburn, was arrested Dec. 30 following an investigation that began when officers were called to Auburn Community Hospital for a report of a child with injuries consistent with possible abuse.

Detectives determined Brown had gotten into a domestic incident with his girlfriend, who is also the mother of their 2-month-old child.

During the incident, Brown threw a video game console hard drive at his girlfriend while she was holding the child, according to police.

The hard drive struck the child in the head, causing a head injury.

The child was initially brought to Auburn Community Hospital but was later transferred to Upstate University Medical Hospital due to the severity of her injuries.

The child suffered a skull fracture and a brain bleed and remains hospitalized.

During the investigation, detectives learned Brown was in possession of multiple firearms he could not legally possess.

A search warrant executed at Brown’s residence resulted in the discovery of a Taurus semi-automatic pistol with a loaded magazine and two AR-style rifles.

Brown was charged with second-degree assault, attempted second-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.

Brown was processed and transported to the Cayuga County Jail for centralized arraignment.
