BOSTON, MA — A Dorchester man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly stealing merchandise from a Target store where he had previously been banned.
Officers assigned to District C-6 responded to 7 Allstate Road at approximately 4:49 p.m. on Dec. 30 for a report of a shoplifter in custody.
Loss prevention officers told police they observed a known shoplifting suspect concealing 27 bottles of lotion inside a large duffel bag.
The suspect allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying and was stopped by loss prevention personnel.
Police were advised the suspect had been trespassed from the store in November.
Loss prevention officers told police the suspect is believed to have stolen more than $56,000 worth of merchandise from Target stores across multiple states.
Long Tran, 54, of Dorchester, was placed under arrest.
He is expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court on charges of shoplifting by asportation over $250 and trespass.
