CORNISH, NH — A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle on a historic covered bridge connecting New Hampshire and Vermont.
Michael Iwanchuk, 52, of Beaverton, Oregon, was walking on the Cornish-Windsor covered bridge when he was struck by a 2011 Ford Ranger at 12:43 p.m. on Dec. 18.
State troopers assigned to the Troop C barracks were responding to a crash on Route 12A when bystanders alerted them to the crash on the nearby covered bridge.
Iwanchuk was treated at the scene before being transported to an area hospital, where he died on Dec. 29.
The driver of the Ford remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.
No charges have been filed at this time.
All aspects of the crash remain under investigation.
