FAIR HAVEN, VT — A 51-year-old man was arrested on a federal warrant and firearms charges.
Eduardo E. Aviles, of Fair Haven, was taken into custody at 10:32 a.m. on South Park Place.
Police arrested Aviles on a warrant issued by Hon. Judge Christina Reiss of the United States District Court for a violation of his supervised release.
Aviles was also charged with persons prohibited from possessing firearms and possession of stolen property following an investigation into stolen firearms.
On Dec. 14, Fair Haven Police were contacted by the New York State Police, who advised they were investigating stolen firearms from a residence in the Town of Hampton, New York.
New York State Police advised Aviles may be in possession of stolen firearms and the firearms were hidden at a local church.
On Dec. 14, New York State Police and Fair Haven Police located the firearms in question.
When Aviles was located, he admitted to being in possession of the stolen firearms.
Police learned Aviles is federally disqualified from possessing firearms.
Aviles was lodged at the Marble Valley Correctional facility.
