BERKSHIRE, NY — A man was arrested after allegedly firing a shotgun at a sheriff’s office drone during a search for a missing person.
Nathan Warner, 22, of Berkshire, was charged with unauthorized use of a firearm, an E felony, and reckless endangerment of property, a B misdemeanor.
Tioga County Sheriff’s Office deputies were searching for a reported missing person on Dec. 21 and were using a drone to check nearby fields, creeks and a portion of railroad tracks.
Warner discharged a shotgun in the direction of the drone, which was witnessed by the drone operator and assisting deputies, according to the sheriff’s office.
Warner was processed at the Tioga County Jail Division and released on an appearance ticket.
He is scheduled to appear in Town of Berkshire Court on Jan. 19, 2026, before Justice Schaffer.
