RYE, NH — Police arrested a Massachusetts man Dec. 30 after he allegedly fled multiple crash scenes and refused to exit his damaged vehicle.
The Rye Police Department responded to Lafayette Road at 9:30 a.m. for a report of a vehicle involved in multiple accidents in Portsmouth that had fled the scene.
Witnesses reported the vehicle stopped on the side of Lafayette Road near 120.
The vehicle had heavy front-end damage and was smoking.
When officers approached, the driver indicated he would not exit the vehicle.
Officers from Portsmouth and Rye attempted to communicate with the driver to get him to safely exit.
Lafayette Road was shut down during the incident.
After several efforts to get the driver to exit on his own, officers made entry into the vehicle to remove him.
The driver was taken into custody and identified as Adam Krahe of Beverly, Massachusetts.
Krahe has been charged with a number of offenses by Portsmouth Police, Rye Police and the New Hampshire State Police.
Portsmouth Police, New Hampshire Fish and Game, New Hampshire State Police, North Hampton Police and the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
Rye Fire and Rescue, Portsmouth Fire Department and North Hampton Fire Department also responded.
