Police investigate impersonation incident in Hanover Township

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Police are investigating an incident in which an unknown male impersonated a Hanover Township police officer.

The incident occurred Dec. 30 at 10:57 a.m. and involved an unknown male contacting a resident by telephone asking for information.

The Hanover Township Police Department is urging anyone who receives a call from any individual using a cell phone number and identifying themselves as a police officer to exercise caution.

Police advise anyone who questions the validity of an officer contacting them from any phone number to hang up and dial the department’s non-emergency number at 570-825-1254 for verification before providing any information.

The department is also urging anyone who receives a similar phone call to contact police to file a report.

The incident is being investigated under reference number 25-5939.
