Man arrested on larceny charge in Cortlandville

CORTLANDVILLE, NY — A 42-year-old man faces multiple charges following a reported theft at a Walmart store.

Corey D. Marquis, of Marathon, was arrested at 7:58 p.m. on Dec. 27 after officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the store at 819 Bennie Road at approximately 5:59 p.m. for a larceny complaint.

According to the sheriff’s office, Marquis stole merchandise from the store and fled the scene.

Officers located Marquis and during the investigation found him to be in possession of an unlawful amount of cannabis.

Marquis was charged with petit larceny, aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree, unlawful possession of cannabis, passed red signal, inadequate/no plate lamps and unauthorized stickers.

He was transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for processing and released on appearance tickets.

Marquis is scheduled to appear in Town of Cortlandville Court on Jan. 5, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. for arraignment.
