Two arrested on drug charges in Elmira

ELMIRA, NY — Two people were arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop on South Walnut Street on Dec. 23.

Justin M. Dennison, 41, of Elmira, and Katrina L. Cranmer, 36, of Elmira, were each charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, a class C felony, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, a class D felony, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor.

A deputy from the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol Division conducted the traffic stop in the city after observing a vehicle and traffic law violation that occurred in the town of Southport.

Cranmer was operating the vehicle.

During the stop, Dennison was found to have an active warrant and was taken into custody without incident.

Another deputy arrived and spoke with Cranmer, who admitted there were narcotics inside the vehicle.

Cranmer was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody without incident.

Deputies searched the vehicle and located crack cocaine, methamphetamine and a large amount of fentanyl.

Dennison and Cranmer were issued appearance tickets to appear in Elmira City Court at a later date.

Dennison was turned over to the New York State Police on the warrant.
