PORTLAND, ME — Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that injured a pedestrian Sunday evening.
Officers responded to the area of 654 Riverside Street at approximately 6:48 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
An officer working nearby at the homeless service center responded immediately and was informed by witnesses that the pedestrian was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk when they were struck by a vehicle.
The vehicle stopped briefly before fleeing the scene toward Forest Avenue.
The victim, a 25-year-old Portland resident, was transported to Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The vehicle involved is described as a silver SUV, believed to be an older-model Honda CR-V.
