Man arrested on DUI #2 charge in Newbury

NEWBURY, VT — A 63-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a traffic stop on Interstate 91 South on December 28.

David Fox, of Newbury, was stopped by Vermont State Police troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks at approximately 6:14 p.m. near mile marker 107 after they observed a motor vehicle violation.

Troopers made contact with Fox, who showed signs of impairment, according to police.

Fox was administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was subsequently arrested for suspicion of DUI.

Investigation revealed Fox was operating the vehicle with a passenger sitting on his lap while a young child was in the back seat, police said.

Fox was transported to the Bradford Outpost for processing.

He was released with a citation to appear on January 14, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. in Orange County Criminal Court.

Fox faces charges of DUI second offense, cruelty to a child, negligent operation and reckless endangerment.
