Man charged with murder in Corinth

CORINTH, ME — A 22-year-old man has been charged with murder following a fatal shooting Saturday morning.

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting at a residence on Main Street at approximately 8:28 a.m. on Dec. 27.

Deputies found Abigail Thomas, 41, of Corinth, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.

The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit North and the Maine State Police Evidence Response Team assisted with the investigation.

Thomas was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where an autopsy will be performed.

The preliminary investigation determined that Thomas had been involved in an altercation with her son, Daniel Derosier, 22, of Corinth, who also resided at the home.

Derosier was taken into custody and charged with murder.

He was transported to the Penobscot County Jail.

Corinth Fire/Rescue assisted at the scene.
