MORRIS, NY — A South New Berlin man faces felony charges after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash while intoxicated.
Gregory J. Haggerty, 57, of South New Berlin, was arrested Saturday following a reported accident at the intersection of State Highway 23 and Wells Road.
Deputies from the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene after receiving reports that a driver had fled on foot.
Upon arrival, deputies located a vehicle down an embankment off State Highway 23 and Wells Road.
Haggerty was found a short distance down the road and determined to be intoxicated by alcohol, according to the sheriff’s office.
He was charged with driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher, aggravated unlicensed operation first degree-conditional license, a felony, aggravated unlicensed operation second degree-mandatory suspension, aggravated unlicensed operation third degree, drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle, failure to keep right, speed not reasonable and prudent, and failure to stop at a stop sign.
Haggerty was transported to the Sheriff’s Office for processing and later released with appearance tickets.
He is scheduled to appear in Town of Morris Court at a later date.
