Woman shot in Paterson

PATERSON, NJ — A 23-year-old woman was shot early Sunday morning in the area of 12th Avenue and Auburn Street.

Members of the Paterson Police Department responded to the area at approximately 12:43 a.m. on a report of a shooting, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Patrick Murray.

Police learned that the victim, from Hewitt, had arrived at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson seeking treatment for a non-fatal gunshot wound.

Police were able to locate a potential crime scene in the area.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
