OVID, NY — Two men were arrested following a burglary investigation on Dec. 20 at County Road 132 in the town of Ovid.
At approximately 8:58 a.m., Seneca County 911 received a report of a suspicious male walking around a building.
Troopers from the New York State Police responded to the location, along with deputies from the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and other assisting agencies.
Upon arrival, troopers observed signs of forced entry, including broken windows and damaged doors.
A search of the building was conducted, during which two males were located hiding in the basement and taken into custody without incident.
An investigation determined that copper wiring and other building components had been damaged and removed from their original locations.
Numerous tools and items of stolen property were recovered from inside the building.
Controlled substances were also located during the course of the arrests.
The suspects were identified as Allen L. Little, 58, of Freeville, and Billyray Ward, 39, of Groton.
Both were charged with third-degree burglary, a felony, fourth-degree criminal mischief, petit larceny and possession of burglar’s tools.
Little was additionally charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Both individuals were processed and transported to the Seneca County Jail for centralized arraignment.
