HOUSTON, TX — A man wanted in connection with multiple shooting incidents in Worcester, Massachusetts, was arrested after a three-year manhunt.
Kenneth Diaz, 29, of Worcester, was taken into custody Dec. 3 at a residence in Houston by U.S. Marshals.
Diaz had three active arrest warrants related to shooting incidents in Worcester dating back to 2019.
He had been on the run since 2022.
Several agencies, including the Worcester Police Department, had attempted to locate Diaz but were unsuccessful until November, when investigators from multiple agencies met to share information.
During the meeting, members of the Worcester Police Department Gang Unit, Crime Gun Intelligence Unit and Detective Bureau collaborated with the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Unit and the U.S. Marshal Service.
Detectives reviewed information from the shooting investigations and identified a woman associated with Diaz who had disappeared after a 2022 shooting.
The woman had moved to an unknown location and stopped using social media.
U.S. Marshals determined the woman might be living in Houston.
Marshals in Houston located her and conducted surveillance, observing her with a man who appeared to be Diaz.
Further investigation confirmed the man was Diaz.
U.S. Marshals entered the woman’s residence Dec. 3 and arrested Diaz.
He was in possession of several firearms and body armor at the time of his arrest.
Members of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office returned Diaz to Massachusetts on Dec. 17 to appear in court.
