LANCASTER, NY — A man was arrested after he was found attempting to enter a stolen vehicle at a Transit Road restaurant.
Police responded to the restaurant for a report of a male trying to get into a vehicle using a key that was previously reported stolen with the vehicle out of Cheektowaga earlier that day.
Upon arrival, patrol observed a male subject standing next to the vehicle.
The complainant, who was a relative of the registered owner of the vehicle, was waiting for the owner to respond to the location with a spare key when the male walked up to the vehicle and was using a key to enter it.
When asked by patrol what was happening with the vehicle, the male stated that his juvenile brother gave him the key and he came back because his brother had left his phone in the car after stealing it and driving it around.
The male was taken into custody for possession of the stolen property and transported to the station.
