Driver arrested on DUI charge in Shaftsbury

SHAFTSBURY, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a New York woman on a drug impairment charge after a single-vehicle crash Saturday morning.

Lauren M. Ploof, 32, of Cambridge, New York, was driving a 2020 Honda Civic west on Route 67 near Harrington Road when she veered off the road and struck a telephone pole at approximately 10:48 a.m.

Troopers from the Shaftsbury Barracks responded to the crash scene and observed multiple indicators of impairment while speaking with Ploof.

Ploof was arrested without incident on suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to the Shaftsbury Barracks for processing.

She sustained minor injuries in the crash.

The Honda sustained front-end damage.

Ploof was issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Bennington Criminal Division, at a later date to answer to the charge of DUI-drugs.
