MANLIUS, NY — A Jamesville woman was arrested on multiple animal cruelty charges following an investigation into a dog boarding business.
Leah Pekarsky was arrested at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 19 by the Town of Manlius Police Department.
The arrest stems from a search warrant executed on Nov. 4 at approximately 8:50 a.m. at the Dog Gone Inn, located at 315 Fayette St. Suite 7.
Officers from the Town of Manlius Police Department conducted the search in conjunction with the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office, the SPCA and the Village of Manlius Codes Office.
Four dogs were seized during the search and are in the care of the SPCA.
Ten dogs were returned to their owners.
The Village of Manlius Codes Office locked the business and deemed it not fit for human or animal occupancy.
Pekarsky faces four counts of animal cruelty under Agricultural and Markets Law 353, a Class A misdemeanor.
She also faces one count of abandonment of an animal under Agricultural and Markets Law 355, an unclassified misdemeanor.
Additionally, Pekarsky was charged with failure to provide food and water to an impounded animal under Agricultural and Markets Law 356, an unclassified misdemeanor.
