BERLIN, NY — Two people were arrested following a vehicle pursuit that began in Vermont and ended with their capture at a business in Berlin.
Matthew J. Flanagan, 36, of Shushan, was arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, a class C felony; and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, a class D felony.
Sara M. Klebbe, 34, of Hoosick Falls, was arrested for criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree and vehicle and traffic law violations.
At about 4:04 p.m., troopers were notified of a vehicle pursuit that had begun in Vermont.
While patrolling the area, a trooper located a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle description southbound on State Route 22 in Berlin.
Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle for a vehicle and traffic law violation, but the vehicle driven by Klebbe failed to comply.
Troopers lost sight of the vehicle, and the pursuit was terminated.
The vehicle was later located unoccupied on South Main Street in Berlin.
Klebbe and Flanagan had been witnessed fleeing from the vehicle and were located at a nearby business, where they were taken into custody.
Flanagan was found to be in possession of felony weight narcotics, and Klebbe possessed drug paraphernalia.
Both were transported to State Police Schodack for processing.
Further investigation discovered that while fleeing from law enforcement in the area of State Route 7 in Hoosick, the vehicle driven by Klebbe collided with another car and caused the driver non-life-threatening injuries.
Klebbe fled the scene of the crash without notifying emergency services or checking on the driver.
Both were arraigned at the Hoosick Falls Village Court.
Klebbe was remanded to the Rensselaer County Court pending extradition to Vermont on a felony warrant.
Flanagan was released under the supervision of the Rensselaer County Probation Department.
