WESTBROOK, ME — A 48-year-old man was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle Thursday evening.
The Westbrook Police Department and Westbrook Fire Department responded to the intersection of Main Street and Tolman Street at approximately 4:50 p.m. for a crash involving a car and a bicyclist.
Officers arrived to find the bicyclist on the ground with serious injuries and a bystander performing CPR.
Westbrook Fire Department personnel took over medical aid and transported the man to the hospital, where he remains in serious condition.
The driver of the vehicle was a 16-year-old female.
Main Street was closed until about 7:22 p.m. as police investigated the crash, including an officer reconstructing the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
Police are seeking witnesses who may have seen the crash or observed the bicyclist just beforehand.
