Man arrested on DWI charge in Walton

WALTON, NY — A local man faces drunken driving charges after allegedly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident Saturday night.

Robert Wickham, 36, of Walton, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and driving with .08 of 1% or more of alcohol in blood, both misdemeanors, according to Delaware County Sheriff Craig S. DuMond.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in the town Saturday night.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies determined that Wickham had left the scene of the accident, according to the sheriff’s office.

Wickham was also issued traffic summonses for no/inadequate lights, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, failure to keep right, failure to use designated lane, uninspected motor vehicle, and speed not reasonable and prudent.

Wickham was released on appearance tickets and traffic summonses and was directed to appear in Walton Town Court at a later date.
