NORWOOD, MA — A 16-year-old male from Brockton was arrested this morning in connection with a September shooting investigation, Norwood police announced.
Norwood Police detectives, assisted by the Brockton Police Department and the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office, executed an arrest warrant at a residence in Brockton.
The juvenile, whose identity is protected under Massachusetts law, was taken into custody without incident and booked at the Norwood Police Department.
The juvenile has been charged with armed assault with intent to rob, conspiracy to commit robbery and attempted armed robbery.
The charges stem from a Sept. 24 incident when Norwood Police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire in a residential area near the intersection of Columbine Road and Woodbine Road.
Through interviews and forensic investigation, detectives determined the shooting was not random.
Investigators believe the victim was lured to the area under the pretense of a marijuana transaction and was targeted for an armed robbery.
“This arrest is the result of tireless work by our detectives and the critical cooperation of our law enforcement partners in Brockton and Plymouth County,” said Chief Christopher Padden.
“While today marks significant progress, our work is not finished,” Padden said.
The incident remains under investigation, with detectives actively pursuing leads related to the conspiracy.
More charges are expected to follow.
Anyone with information related to this incident, or who may have observed suspicious activity in the area on the night of Sept. 24, is asked to contact Detective Sinclair at 781-440-5193.
