Trooper injured in collision in Monroe

MONROE, NY — A state trooper was injured when a Honda collided head-on with a marked police vehicle on Seven Springs Mountain Road on Sunday night.

The collision occurred at approximately 8:43 p.m. in the area of 277 Seven Springs Mountain Road.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the marked police vehicle with its emergency lights activated was parked facing eastbound while the trooper investigated an unrelated collision.

A 2007 Honda, traveling westbound, swerved to avoid another vehicle, lost control, and collided head-on with the police vehicle.

The trooper was inside the vehicle at the time of the collision and was transported to Westchester Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The trooper was released from the hospital.

The operator of the Honda reported no injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.
