Body recovered after fire in Palermo

PALERMO, ME — Fire investigators recovered a deceased individual this morning from a fire scene on Leeman Arm Road, according to the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The body has been transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for positive identification and determination of the cause of death.

Investigators believe there may have been an explosion inside the residence prior to the fire.

The home was supplied with propane gas for appliances and heating.

State Propane Inspectors assisted investigators at the scene, and the cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
