FALMOUTH, MA — A man barricaded himself inside his home Tuesday morning after an argument with a contractor, prompting a multi-agency response that lasted nearly three hours.

Falmouth Police officers were dispatched to a residence on Chase Road at approximately 8:20 a.m. following a reported dispute between a contractor and the resident.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the resident, who made statements indicating a mental health crisis and referenced the presence of a firearm inside the residence.

The individual subsequently barricaded himself inside the home, and initial efforts to resolve the situation were unsuccessful.

Officers secured the surrounding area and requested assistance from partner agencies, including the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council SWAT Team, the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office Drone Unit, and a K-9 unit from the Mashpee Police Department.

Crisis negotiations continued throughout the morning, and at approximately 11 a.m., officers were able to take the individual into custody without further incident.

Following the incident, Falmouth Police Detectives executed a search warrant at the residence and recovered two shotguns.

The individual was transported by the Falmouth Fire and Rescue Department to Falmouth Hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
