LIMA, NY — A 36-year-old man was arrested on felony driving while intoxicated charges following a single-vehicle crash that brought down wires across a roadway early Friday morning.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to Dalton Road at approximately 2:43 a.m. on Dec. 13 for a report of wires down across the roadway.

Deputy Hayden Strobel arrived and determined the wires were down due to a motor vehicle crash.

The deputy made contact with the operator of the vehicle, who identified himself as Mark Snyder, of Lima.

During the initial encounter, the deputy suspected Snyder was possibly under the influence of alcohol.

A DWI investigation was completed, which included the performance of standardized field sobriety tests, and Snyder was taken into custody.

Snyder was offered a breathalyzer test to determine his blood alcohol content but refused to submit to a chemical breath test.

A criminal history check showed Snyder had a previous DWI conviction out of Ontario County in 2016, making this arrest a felony.

Snyder was charged with felony Driving While Intoxicated and violations of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.

Snyder was transported to the Livingston County Jail for arrest processing and pre-arraignment detention.

He was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Leicester Justice Durbin.

The judge released Snyder on his own recognizance as the offenses do not qualify for bail under the NYS Bail Reform Act.
