MERIDEN, CT — Police arrested a man on multiple charges including unlawful restraint after responding to a report of a possible abduction on Dec. 13.
Officers received a call about a possible abduction of an adult that evening.
The investigation revealed that Alexavier Delgado was in the presence of a female acquaintance and was refusing to bring her home.
Police determined that Delgado had active arrest warrants for firearms, narcotics, threatening and other various charges out of Meriden.
Officers made telephone contact with Delgado and lured him to a local gas station where he believed he was dropping his victim off with her relative.
After changing locations, the victim was able to exit the vehicle on her own.
Police moved in and took Delgado into custody.
Delgado was out of jail pending 16 active cases with a total of $628,000 in bonds.
Delgado, 35, of Meriden, was arrested at 7:09 p.m. and charged with unlawful restraint in the second degree.
He was also arrested on two active warrants.
The first warrant, with a $35,000 bond, included charges of reckless driving, engaging police in pursuit, failure to obey traffic control signals, failure to obey a stop sign, risk of injury to a child and first-degree threatening with display of a firearm.
The second warrant, with a $10,000 bond, included charges of reckless driving, operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to drive in proper lane, first-offense possession of a controlled substance, carrying a dangerous weapon, two counts of interfering with an officer, fifth-degree larceny and disorderly conduct.
Bond for the new charge was set at $15,000.
