GROTON, CT — A man was arrested late Friday night after police received a report of a road rage incident involving a firearm.
Officers with the Groton City Police Department received information from a neighboring agency at approximately 11:19 p.m. regarding a reported road rage incident where a subject brandished a firearm.
Police were provided with a description of the subject and vehicle and a potential address on Benham Road in Groton.
Officers responded to Benham Road and located the subject, identified as Eric White, inside the described vehicle.
White was found in possession of a loaded 9mm pistol equipped with a large-capacity magazine and a double-edged dagger.
White displayed signs of impairment but was compliant and taken into custody without incident.
White was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, two counts of possession of weapons in a motor vehicle, carrying a firearm while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs, possession of a large capacity magazine, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol/drugs, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
White was held on a $50,000 cash or surety bond and given a court date of Dec. 15 at 9 a.m. in New London.
