SHAFTSBURY, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a New York man on a DUI charge following a single-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon.
Gary R. Neal, 71, of Hoosick Falls, New York, was operating a 2008 Toyota Yaris on Vermont Route 7A near Lake Shaftsbury when he veered off the road and struck a guardrail at approximately 4:47 p.m.
Troopers from the Shaftsbury Barracks responded to the crash and identified multiple indicators of impairment while speaking with Neal.
Neal sustained minor injuries and was transported to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
Neal was processed at the hospital and is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court Bennington-Criminal Division at a later date to answer to the charge of DUI.
The Shaftsbury Fire Department, the Arlington Rescue Squad and Southern Vermont Auto assisted troopers on scene.
Weather and road conditions were clear at the time of the crash.
