BLOOMINGDALE, NJ — A New York man was arrested after police observed him jaywalking and entering a vehicle with a suspended registration on Dec. 13.

Patrolman Zach Borell, who was assigned to a statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” detail, observed a male jaywalking in the roadway.

Shortly thereafter, Patrolman Borell observed the male enter a motor vehicle displaying a suspended registration.

A motor vehicle stop was conducted, and officers made contact with the operator, who provided a false name and date of birth in an attempt to prevent his true identification.

Officers were later able to positively identify the individual as Jaylin Henderson, of Hempstead, N.Y., who was also found to have a suspended driver’s license.

Henderson was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters for processing.

He was charged with hindering apprehension, driving while suspended and jaywalking.

Patrolman Borell was assisted by Patrolman Graziosa and Patrolman Miller.
