POWNAL, VT — A 44-year-old man faces multiple charges including his third DUI offense following an incident early Friday morning.

John P. Davey, of Pownal, was arrested at his residence on Vermont Route 346 at approximately 12:20 a.m.

Vermont State Trooper Kyle Stevens had conducted a traffic stop at approximately 11:16 p.m. Thursday on an unrelated vehicle.

During that stop, the occupants arranged for a friend to retrieve the vehicle because their licenses were suspended.

Trooper Stevens learned the friend was possibly being chased by Davey in his truck and that Davey was reported to be intoxicated.

Troopers began investigating and made contact with Davey at his residence.

During the interaction, Davey became agitated and threatened to fight with troopers on scene.

When Davey was advised he was under arrest, he became combative.

Davey was subdued and transported to the Vermont State Police Barracks in Shaftsbury.

Davey was charged with DUI third offense, resisting arrest, driving while criminally suspended and three counts of violation of probation.

He was later transported to the Marble Valley Correctional Facility due to his level of intoxication.
