Man arrested on child exploitation charges in Utica

UTICA, NY — New York State Police arrested a 35-year-old man on child sexual exploitation charges on Dec. 11.

Kyle E. Johnson, of Utica, was charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child, a class D felony, and possessing a sexual performance by a child, a class E felony.

The investigation stemmed from an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force search warrant related to the transmission of child sexual exploitation material via the internet.

The arrest was a result of a joint investigation by members of the State Police Computer Crime Unit – Troop D, the Troop D Bureau of Criminal Investigation – Marcy, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force – Albany, Homeland Security Investigations, and the City of Utica Police Department.

Johnson was scheduled to be arraigned in Utica City Court at 5 p.m.
