Police investigate threats to schools in Fulton

1 min read

FULTON, NY — The City of Fulton Police Department investigated three separate incidents involving reported threats to Fulton City Schools between Dec. 10 and Dec. 11, determining none were credible.

On Dec. 10, the department received information from the New York City Police Department about an email referencing multiple unidentified schools in New York.

The email contained a bomb threat and ransom demand, listing an address in Fulton.

An immediate investigation determined the Fulton location was not involved in the threat.

The email originated from an overseas account, police said.

Also on Dec. 10, the department received multiple reports of a possible school shooting threat.

Following investigation, police determined there was no credible evidence to support the allegations.

On Dec. 11, the department received numerous complaints about a Snapchat video circulating in the community.

The video showed a juvenile male placing what appeared to be a revolver into a backpack.

Officers identified and located the individual.

Investigation confirmed the item was a BB gun, not a firearm.

Police determined the video was recorded on Dec. 7 and no direct threats were made.

The department said it continues to work with partner agencies to monitor and investigate potential threats.

No credible information substantiates any threats to Fulton City Schools or the community, police said.
