Police seek help identifying person in shooting investigation in Newark

NEWARK, NJ — The Newark Police Division is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying an individual connected to a shooting investigation.

At approximately 4:01 a.m. on Nov. 14, the ShotSpotter detection system detected gunfire in the 300 block of Leslie Street.

Officers responded to the location and found two 9mm shell casings.

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. is urging anyone with information about the individual’s identity to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).

All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.

Anonymous tips may also be submitted through the Police Division’s website at https://npd.newarkpublicsafety.org.
