NEW HARTFORD, NY — A Clinton man faces multiple charges after allegedly violating an order of protection at a hotel.
David J. Murphy, 36, of Clinton, was arrested after Road Patrol Deputies were notified on Dec. 4 that a bench warrant had been issued for him, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol.
Deputies located Murphy at a hotel in the Town of New Hartford in the early morning hours.
Murphy was taken into custody and brought to the Oneida County Correctional Facility regarding the warrant.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Murphy had violated an active stay away order of protection that was issued after multiple previous domestic incidents.
Murphy was seen with the protected party on hotel surveillance footage, which is a direct violation of the active order of protection.
Murphy was charged with criminal contempt in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor, and aggravated family offense, a class E felony.
Murphy was arrested and processed on these charges on Dec. 9.
At that time, Murphy was again instructed to cease the contact, or it could result in further charges.
Murphy was returned to the Oneida County Jail to await arraignment on the new charges.
