ELMIRA, NY — One person was shot in the arm on Maple Avenue on Dec. 9.
Elmira Police were dispatched to the 500 block of Maple Avenue at approximately 6:17 p.m. for a report of gunshots in the area.
Upon arrival, responding officers located one victim who sustained a gunshot wound to the arm.
Elmira Police officers provided medical assistance to the victim until the Elmira Fire Department and Erway Ambulance arrived on scene and took over care of the patient.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where they are receiving medical care for their gunshot wound.
The victim is in stable condition.
The Elmira Police Department is currently investigating this incident.
Police said this incident was not a random act and there is no immediate danger to the public.
