EAST LYME, CT — Police arrested a man accused of stalking a victim for months after he confronted the person in a private driveway Tuesday morning.
East Lyme officers responded to the area of Fairhaven Road at 8:30 a.m. for a report of a disturbance.
A male parked his vehicle in a private driveway and began yelling at the victim and making threatening statements.
When the victim called 911, the suspect fled the area.
Officers located the suspect and determined he had been stalking the victim for months.
He waited outside of the victim’s residence hoping to contact him.
On Tuesday the victim exited his home prompting the suspect to confront him.
The suspect was found to be in possession of a wooden baton.
The victim and offender have no connection to each other.
Macgregor Smith, 48, of Niantic, was taken into custody.
He was charged with stalking, threatening, breach of peace and illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle.
Smith was held on a $100,000 bond.
