RYEGATE, VT — Vermont State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 302 near Creamery Road on Dec. 10.

Troopers received a report of the crash at approximately 6:23 a.m.

The operator, Shawn Wasilewski, 48, of St. Johnsbury, failed to maintain his lane and struck a guardrail, according to police.

Slick road conditions and speed were contributing factors in the crash, troopers said.

His 2012 Ford Escape sustained major front passenger side damage and was totaled.

Members of the Ryegate Fire Department assisted troopers at the scene.

Road conditions were slick and weather was cloudy at the time of the crash.
