PREBLE, NY — New York State Police responded to a jack-knifed tractor trailer on Interstate 81 on Dec. 7 at approximately 5:45 p.m.
An investigation revealed that Gurpreet Singh Sran, 30, of Ontario, Canada, was operating a white 2020 Volvo tractor trailer for Blue Ice Transport, Alberta Canada, and traveling southbound on I-81.
The trailer was carrying auto parts.
The roadway was lightly wet and snow covered when Sran attempted to pass another vehicle near mile marker 61 at an unreasonable speed and lost control, causing the tractor trailer to jack-knife across both southbound lanes of travel and the shoulders.
A detour was established at Exit 63.
No injuries were reported and Sran was issued traffic tickets.
The roadway was completely reopened at 8:29 p.m.
