MOREAU, NY — A Gansevoort man faces multiple felony charges following a domestic incident early Thursday morning.
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office responded to an active domestic incident call at 1:30 a.m. on Hatchery Road in the town of Moreau.
Michael A. Blair, 34, of Gansevoort, was arrested and charged with strangulation in the second degree, a class D felony, and unlawful imprisonment in the first degree, a class E felony.
He also faces misdemeanor charges of assault in the third degree and criminal mischief in the fourth degree.
Blair is accused of applying pressure to the victim’s neck with the intent to impede their normal breathing or blood circulation, resulting in loss of consciousness.
He is also charged with restraining the victim under circumstances that exposed them to a risk of serious physical injury and intentionally causing physical injury to the victim.
Blair allegedly took the victim’s phone when they were in the process of seeking emergency assistance.
He was arraigned before the Honorable Jeffrey B. McCabe in Moreau Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail pending further proceedings.
The victim was taken by EMS to Glens Falls Hospital for evaluation and treatment.
