WILTON, NY — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office arrested two people Friday after an investigation into unlawful animal possession at a Louden Road residence.
Nancy M. Kenny, 72, of Wilton, and Rachael N. Furman, 32, of Wilton, were each charged with 13 counts of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals; failure to provide sustenance, class A misdemeanors, and criminal contempt in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.
Authorities said the two are accused of keeping seven cats in unsanitary conditions and four hens, two roosters and a turkey without food or water.
Both Kenny and Furman are prohibited by court order from owning, possessing or residing with any animals due to a previous arrest.
They were both released on appearance tickets pending proceedings in Wilton Town Court.
The cats were placed in the custody of the Saratoga County Animal Shelter and the birds are being cared for by a designee of the shelter.
