GROVELAND, NY — A 22-year-old man faces felony charges after allegedly firing a high-powered pellet gun at sheriff’s deputies responding to a disturbance call.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office was contacted at approximately 5:05 p.m. on Dec. 7 regarding a reported disturbance involving a firearm at a residence in the Town of Groveland.
Livingston County Sheriff’s deputies and members of the New York State Police responded to the residence.
As deputies approached the residence, a male was observed exiting the front door with an object in his hand.
The investigation alleges the male discharged at least one round from a high-powered pellet gun at the deputies.
The male was identified as Limber Jimenez, 22, of Huehuetenango, Guatemala.
Jimenez was charged with felony attempted assault in the first degree, felony reckless endangerment in the first degree, felony menacing a police officer or peace officer and misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.
Jimenez was arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Leicester Justice Durbin.
The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office recommended that Jimenez be held on $15,000 cash or $75,000 partially secured bond.
The judge remanded Jimenez to the custody of the sheriff on the supplied bail recommendation.
The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office represented Jimenez at his arraignment.
The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office appeared to represent the People.
Assisting with the investigation were members of the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division, Command Staff, Criminal Investigations Division, Forensic Identification Unit and the New York State Police.
