GENESEO, NY — A Steuben County man faces felony charges after allegedly threatening the lives of two Livingston County public officials.
Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports that Jarid Hawkins, 43, of Hornell, was arrested Dec. 7 following an investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office was contacted regarding possible threats directed at multiple Livingston County public officials.
Investigator Martin Herkimer and Sergeant Laszlo Babocsi responded to Hornell and located Hawkins.
Through the investigation, authorities allege Hawkins threatened the lives of two Livingston County public officials.
Hawkins was charged with felony making a terroristic threat and felony aggravated harassment of a judge.
He was arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part at the Livingston County Jail before Village of Dansville Justice Kenney.
The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office recommended Hawkins be held on $5,000 cash, $10,000 credit card or similar, or $25,000 partially secured bond.
The judge remanded Hawkins to the custody of the sheriff on the supplied recommendation.
The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office represented Hawkins at his arraignment.
The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office appeared to represent the people.
Members of the Criminal Investigations Division, Patrol Division and the Avon Police Department assisted with the investigation.
