EAST LYME, CT — A New Britain man has been arrested on charges stemming from a September shoplifting incident and subsequent police pursuit.
Andres Meletrich, 36, of New Britain, was arrested by warrant on Dec. 5 and charged with larceny in the fifth degree, disobeying an officer’s signal and reckless driving.
Police said an officer responded to Walgreens on Flanders Road in September for a report of a larceny.
Officers learned a man stole more than $720 worth of items before fleeing the parking lot in a black Volkswagen Jetta.
On Oct. 6, officers located the black Jetta and attempted to stop the vehicle.
Police said the driver fled from officers onto Interstate 95, driving recklessly.
With assistance from other agencies investigating the same suspect for similar larcenies, investigators identified the larceny suspect as Meletrich, who was also the driver of the vehicle that fled from officers.
Meletrich was held on $15,000 bond.
