Two arrested on drug trafficking charges in Swanton

SWANTON, VT — Two men were arrested on drug trafficking charges following a multi-week investigation that resulted in the seizure of fentanyl, crack cocaine, a firearm and cash.

The Swanton Village Police Department, with assistance from Vermont State Police, Grand Isle Sheriff’s Department and Border Patrol, executed a search warrant at an address on Frontage Road at Lafar Road on Dec. 4 at 9 p.m.

Police located 379 grams of crack cocaine, 40 grams of fentanyl, a firearm with the serial number ground off and $2,676 in cash.

Mustafa M. Muhammad, 24, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Anthon R. Avery, 26, of Brooklyn, New York, were arrested along with three residents of the home.

Muhammad and Avery were lodged on $25,000 bail each and remained held on $25,000 bail after arraignment on Dec. 5.

A judge did not find probable cause to lodge the local residents of the home.
