Woman arrested on armed robbery charge in Dorchester

BOSTON, MA — A Dorchester woman was arrested Wednesday following an armed robbery in which the victim was struck with a bottle and placed in a headlock.

Elena O’Brien, 38, of Dorchester, was arrested by officers assigned to District C-11 at about 6:25 p.m.

Officers were waved down by a victim who reported he was struck in the head with a bottle and placed in a headlock during the robbery.

Officers stopped one of the suspects in the area of Columbia Road and Boston Street.

The suspect was handcuffed, and a description of the second suspect was broadcast to responding units.

Officers searched the area for the second suspect but were unable to locate them.

O’Brien is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of armed robbery with a glass bottle, receiving stolen property over $1,200, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and strangulation or suffocation.

O’Brien also had an outstanding warrant issued out of Roxbury District Court for burglary, trespass and breaking and entering for misdemeanor.
