Vehicle flees crash scene in Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD, VT — Vermont State Police are seeking information about a vehicle that fled the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Route 100 on December 5.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:02 p.m. near Colton Enterprises.

Police said William Mears, 53, of Pittsfield, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Route 100 and was attempting to turn left onto Fifield Drive.

A second vehicle, also traveling southbound, attempted to pass Mears’ vehicle on the left side.

The second vehicle collided with the plow on Mears’ truck and spun onto the east shoulder of Route 100, police said.

The vehicle then entered the parking area of Colton Enterprises and left the scene.

Mears was wearing a seat belt and reported no injuries.

His vehicle sustained damage to the plow and undercarriage.

The second vehicle sustained passenger side damage.

Weather and road conditions were clear at the time of the crash.
