Barricaded suspect dies in Stamford

STAMFORD, CT — A barricaded suspect died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after exchanging gunfire with police officers on Oaklawn Avenue on Tuesday.

Stamford Police officers responded to a residence on Oaklawn Avenue, which escalated into a barricaded-suspect incident.

As officers approached the residence, their vehicles came under gunfire.

Multiple agencies responded with additional resources to assist.

During the course of the incident, the suspect exchanged gunfire with Stamford officers.

The suspect appears to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Connecticut State Police Major Crimes Unit is processing the scene.
